Emeka Jeremiah Nnaji (born January 27, 1981), better known by his stage name E’major is a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist. He is popular for his hit afrobeat songs like “Malugo” and “padi”. He is currently signed to Motion Major Records.
Life And Career
Emeka Jeremiah Nnaji was born on January 27, 1981, in Enugu Nigeria, to Comfort Nnaji, a local businesswoman, and Orji Nnaji, a civil servant. He is the youngest of 9 siblings.
In 1996 E’major was the lead singer to the band “sound city” which had other acts like flavor and Chris odor.
He created a 5 person acappella group in the early 2000’s called ‘lace’ during the time of lord Eli who is currently known as 2face Idibia.
After which he left for America where he became a contemporary inspirational artiste. He leads the choir in churches like Christ family church international.
In 2015, he released a gospel album ‘Truly Free’ under the name ‘nnaji’ which featured songs like “Sensitive”, “May You Reign”, “Omeh Mma”.
In 2019, he was signed to motion major records and rebrand to E’major.
In 2021, he released his first single as an Afro-fusion/Afro
Rnb artist, “Nneoma”, which quickly became a listener favorite as it spoke to the African culture of appreciating and caring for mothers. Followed swiftly by the release of the music video for Nneoma, directed by ofishea for motion major records.
On 24 September 2021, he released a 5 track Ep “goose and gander” which contained songs like “diamond”, “padi” and the viral hit song “Malugo”.
In January 2022 he released the visual to “malugo” directed by Dindu which was a cinematographic celebration of igbo culture featuring stars like Uti Nwachukwu, big brother winner white money, Cee-c, and ugwezeji ugweze.
Artistry
His music style has been described as Eclectic, with his Afro-fusion/ Rnb sound being elevated by elements of several other genres predominantly Pop, Hip hop, highlife, and contemporary gospel. His lyrics explore themes of love, struggle, joy, and success.
